Farrah's eldest sister, Diane Fawcett Walls, passed away with lung cancer in October 16th, 2001, just short of her 63rd birthday. In 2005 she agreed to let cameras follow her around in her everyday life and the show was called, "Chasing Farrah". On the fifth episode, it showed Farrah going back and visiting her family, father James and mother Pauline. Pauline passed away shortly after the series was filmed. She passed away on the 4th March, 2005, at the age of 91.
In 2006 Farrah was diagnosed with anal cancer. She began her treatments which included chemotherapy as well as surgery. On her birthday, 4 months later, she was cancer free. Four months later, a maligmant polyp was discovered in the area which had been treated for the cancer before. She opted to try alternative ways to cure the cancer and travelled to Germany for treatments. These treatments were not effective. Months later, she tried laser ablation and chemoembolization therapy. In April 2009, she was rushed into hospital in critical condition. On April 6th, it was reported that the cancer had moved to her liver. Three days later, Fawcett was released and took home by Ryan O'Neil. On May 7th, Fawcett was reportedly critically ill. Her father, James, now 91 years of age, was flown out to see her.
